At Lofty Butter Company, we want our cultured creations to arrive as fresh, safe, and delicious as the day they were churned. That’s why we’ve partnered with IndieFood, a dedicated weekly local delivery service with a refrigerated fleet that transports food at a safe 0°C the entire way.
Unlike other couriers, IndieFood specializes in farm-fresh and artisan food delivery. This means your butter goes from our fridge to yours with the care it deserves.
Shipping Rates
- Minimum order: $40
- Flat-rate weekly delivery: $25 anywhere in IndieFood’s service area (see below)
Tip: With flat-rate delivery, many of our customers place group orders with friends, family, or neighbours to share the cost.
Orders are due by noon on Mondays.

Shipping FAQ
Why does shipping cost $25?
We use a dedicated refrigerated delivery service that keeps your order cold until it reaches your door. This ensures food safety, freshness, and reliability. Other couriers aren’t able to provide this level of care, so while the rate may feel higher, it’s the responsible choice for our cultured dairy.
When will my order arrive?
Orders are packed every Monday and picked up by IndieFood for delivery.
- Orange Zone: Weekly deliveries on Thursdays
- Purple Zone: Weekly deliveries on Friday
*Note: Greater Ottawa deliveries may occasionally occur on Thursday.
What if I won’t be home?
IndieFood drivers do their best to hand deliveries directly to a person. While a signature isn’t required, their default practice is not to leave packages unattended. If you know you won’t be home, please include a note at checkout giving permission for your order to be left at your door.
How can I save on delivery?
Place a group order! The $25 flat fee is per order, not per person — so when you place your order together with friends, family, or neighbours, you share the cost.
Refunds, Damages & Order Issues
If your order arrives damaged, melted, or incorrect, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery with photos. We’ll work with you to replace or refund your order. We stand by the quality of our product — your satisfaction matters.
Missed Deliveries / Failed Attempts
If no one is home and no safe drop-off instruction was given, the driver will attempt delivery on the next scheduled delivery day for your zone. If delivery fails entirely, you may be responsible for an extra delivery fee or restocking.
Disclaimer & Delay Notice
While we use refrigerated transport to maintain quality, Lofty Butter is not responsible for delays, damage, or loss caused by weather, traffic, road closures, or third-party delays.
IndieFood's Winter Weather Policy
"Winter is here, and while we prioritize speed, safety comes first. In the event of severe inclement weather preventing a safe pickup or delivery, we will generally reschedule for the following week."
